Irwin / North Huntingdon , PA

About the family:

This is a wonderful opportunity to join a busy, active family in the Irwin/North Huntingdon area who is looking for an experienced, dependable, and exceptionally detail-oriented Private Housekeeper to become a trusted, long-term part of their household.

The family has two school-aged boys, a young dog, and a spacious home that they take great pride in maintaining. With both parents working outside the home at their family-owned business, they're hoping to find someone who can take ownership of the home's cleaning needs so they can spend less time worrying about household responsibilities and more time enjoying family life.

Cleanliness, consistency, and attention to detail are particularly important to this family. They're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys thorough cleaning, notices areas that may be overlooked during routine cleaning, and takes pride in maintaining a home that feels fresh, comfortable, and well cared for.

More than anything, they value reliability, trust, initiative, and quality work. They're hoping to build a lasting relationship with someone who takes the time to learn their home's unique needs and preferences, understands their expectations, and consistently delivers a high standard of cleaning without needing repeated reminders.

The Role:

This is a part-time Private Housekeeper position with a primary focus on thorough, detailed residential cleaning and maintaining the overall cleanliness of a spacious private home.

Responsibilities will include thorough cleaning of the home's bathrooms, kitchen, bedrooms, living spaces, floors, stairways, and other frequently used areas.

Bathrooms and kitchen cleaning are especially important to the family and will be among the highest weekly priorities. Responsibilities will include thoroughly cleaning and disinfecting toilets, sinks, showers, tubs, countertops, fixtures, appliances, and other appropriate surfaces, with particular attention to soap scum, water spots, buildup, and areas that are easily overlooked.

Bedroom and living-area responsibilities will include detailed dusting of furniture, shelving, décor, and accessible surfaces; vacuuming and mopping floors; cleaning mirrors and glass; addressing pet hair; and maintaining a clean, comfortable environment throughout the home.

The home has primarily hardwood flooring, with carpeting in limited areas, including the stairways and a basement bedroom. The family would appreciate someone experienced in using appropriate cleaning methods for different surfaces and furnishings.

The family also places importance on smaller details, such as keeping door handles and light switches clean, dusting stair railings and ledges, cleaning around edges and corners, and ensuring frequently used spaces receive consistent attention.

In addition to regular weekly cleaning, the housekeeper will help maintain a rotating deep-cleaning schedule for areas that require less frequent attention. This may include baseboards, trim, doors, blinds, windowsills, interior appliances, cabinets, glass surfaces, guest rooms, and other designated areas throughout the home.

The family has a finished basement with additional living and guest spaces that may require periodic cleaning depending on use. These areas will be incorporated into the cleaning schedule as needed rather than necessarily cleaned thoroughly every week.

The home has five bedrooms and five bathrooms, although only three bedrooms and three bathrooms are regularly used. Cleaning priorities will be established accordingly, allowing the housekeeper to focus on the most frequently used areas while maintaining additional spaces on an appropriate rotation.

The family also employs a separate Household Manager / Family Assistant, who will primarily handle everyday household organization, laundry, meal preparation, errands, and routine upkeep.

While the Household Manager will help maintain the home between professional cleaning visits, the Private Housekeeper may occasionally assist with basic household resets on scheduled cleaning days. This could include making beds, loading or unloading the dishwasher, washing a few dishes, wiping counters, or light tidying before cleaning.

These responsibilities are intended to be minimal and should not take away from the primary focus of thorough, detailed housekeeping.

The Private Housekeeper will work collaboratively with the Household Manager, who will help coordinate cleaning priorities, maintain an agreed-upon checklist or rotation, and communicate areas needing additional attention. The family will remain the employer and retain final authority over employment-related decisions.

The family will provide all necessary cleaning supplies, tools, and equipment.

Ultimately, the goal is to find someone who can take ownership of the home's cleaning needs, recognize details that require attention, consistently maintain high cleaning standards, and help create a comfortable, beautifully cared-for environment for the entire family.

Ideal Candidate:

This family is looking for someone who genuinely enjoys professional housekeeping and takes pride in delivering thorough, consistent, high-quality cleaning.

You're naturally detail-oriented and have a strong eye for cleanliness. You notice the dust on a shelf, buildup around a fixture, fingerprints on glass, or pet hair collecting in an overlooked area, and you take the initiative to address it.

You understand the difference between making a room appear tidy and ensuring it has been thoroughly cleaned. You don't rush through responsibilities simply to check them off a list, and you take pride in completing tasks carefully and consistently.

You're comfortable managing your time efficiently, following an established cleaning schedule, and prioritizing the areas that need the most attention.

You also understand that every household has its own preferences and expectations. You take the time to learn those details, communicate clearly, and consistently maintain the family's standards.

Reliability is especially important. The family is looking for someone who is punctual, dependable, trustworthy, and committed to providing consistent service.

You'll do especially well in this role if you have previous professional residential cleaning or private-housekeeping experience, enjoy working independently, and are comfortable collaborating with another household professional.

Most importantly, the family hopes to find someone who is genuinely interested in a stable, long-term position and will take pride in becoming a trusted, valued part of their household.

Additional Details:

The position offers 10 guaranteed hours per week across two days, with the exact schedule to be determined based on the family's needs and the selected candidate's availability.

The family would prefer one longer cleaning day when the housekeeper can work independently, along with a shorter second visit that may overlap with the Household Manager's schedule.

A potential arrangement could include approximately seven hours on one day and three hours on another, although there is flexibility for the right candidate.

Compensation is $35–$40/hour, depending on experience.

Benefits include:

  • Two paid vacation days annually.

  • Two paid sick days annually.

  • Flexibility to reschedule cleaning days around holidays, while maintaining two visits per week.

  • 10 guaranteed paid hours per week.

  • Potential for additional hours for seasonal cleaning, special occasions, or larger projects with advance approval.

The family is hoping to find someone who can start ASAP but is happy to wait for the right long-term fit!

There may also be an opportunity for qualified candidates interested in both household management and housekeeping responsibilities to be considered for additional, separately scheduled hours. If interested, please mention this in your application.
